"Hearing What You Want To Hear"

Have you ever spoken to someone and it seems that they heard something
completely different from what you said? Has anyone ever given you
a word, or had a dream or vision that they sincerely believed came
from God, but your spirit cannot confirm the truth?
In 2 Chronicles Chapter 18 Israel and Judah were combining forces
to fight Ramoth in Gilead. The king of Israel called forth 400 prophets
together and they all said that they would be victorious. The King
of Judah, however, asked the King of Israel if there was prophet
of God who will tell them the truth? A messenger was sent to the
prophet Micaiah and he was instructed to tell the king the same
as the other 400 prophets. Micaiah did, but the king urged him to
tell the truth. And so Micaiah said, "'I saw Israel's troops
scattered in the hills like sheep without a shepherd. The LORD said,
'These sheep have no master. Let each one go home in peace."
The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you
he wouldn't prophesy anything good about me?" Micaiah added,
"Then hear the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sitting on
his throne, and the entire army of heaven was standing on his right
and his left. The LORD asked, "Who will deceive King Ahab of
Israel so that he will attack and be killed at Ramoth in Gilead?"'
Some answered one way, while others were saying something else.
'"Then the Spirit stepped forward, stood in front of the LORD,
and said, "I will deceive him."' "'How?", the
LORD asked. "The Spirit answered, "I will go out and be
a spirit that tells lies through the mouths of all of Ahab's prophets."
The LORD said, "You will succeed in deceiving him. Go and do
it.”‘ So the LORD has put into the mouths of these prophets
of yours a spirit that makes them tell lies. The LORD has spoken
evil about you." So we see God allowed a Lying Spirit to prophecy
what he did not say, but what the people wanted to hear.
When someone has a wound and they don't put peroxide on it, and
have it bandaged up, it becomes infected. The church is full of
wounded people, and sometimes there are just not enough doctors
in the house who will give the time and attention to the sick for
them to become whole. Many of those infected now become contagious
and they now spread their disease to those who are not immune.
The Spirit of Jealousy and the Spirit of Lying, I believe are usually
connected. For many people, they were attached to us from childhood
because of the love and affirmation we may not have received from
our parents. Insecurity slips in; we become a people who are easily
offended, our emotions are easily moved by others, we have a hard
time trusting, we have many fears, and struggle with depression.
We do not like who we are, and we unconsciously trying to be who
we are not. The fruit that manifests from our life is strong deception,
accusations, gossip, false teaching, lying, religious bondage, etc.
If we listen to a lie long enough no matter how untrue it may appear
we will eventually believe it. I believe many cults, false religions,
false prophecy, teachings, etc., have come forth from the wounds
in our lives becoming infected and the Lying Spirit coming in to
rule. The sad thing is it doesn't affect just us. This spirit is
contagious and it usually influences many. Examples from history
are people like Jim Jones, Adolph Hitler, and ideologies of slavery,
racism, and Islam...
Now that we have identified the enemy and exposed him for who he
is, we must cut him off at the root. The Bible says whatsoever we
bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatsoever we loose on earth
is loosed in heaven. So we bind the Lying Spirit off of our lives,
and we loose the Spirit of Truth to replace it the name of Jesus
.AMEN! Remember, that when one is delivered from something they
must replace what is now empty or what was there will return seven
fold worse. So the Spirit of Lying can only be replaced with the
Spirit of Truth. So daily get alone with God, fellowship with Him,
dig deeply into His Word, and allow Him to shed light wherever there
is darkness.
